Cosmetology Instructor

Step	Description	Resources/Additional Information
Requirement	You must already have an active cosmetology, aesthetics, nail technology, or hairstylist license for a minimum of 1 year and completion of 350 instructor hours.
1	Take and pass both the written and practical exams through Virtual Inc. (PCS)	Testing Information
2	Fill out all of the necessary application information and supporting documents. Headshot quality photo that will be displayed on your license (must be against a white background) Certification of Graduation: must be on school letterhead Government-issued ID to show proof of age Copy of current license and proof of 1 year of work experience	License Application Payment Proof of Work Experience Form License Application Required Documents
3	After you have filled out the application, you must verify the email address you listed on your application. The verification link is good for 48 hours. If you do not confirm your email address and then move on to the payment, your application will not be submitted.
4	Select ‘Confirm Email’ on the email sent and then fill out the payment information.
5	After you have filled out the payment information, you must select ‘Authorize’ on the Order Review page.
6	The application process is complete once you get to the payment confirmation page. You will receive an email from the Barbering & Cosmetology Board saying that your application has been submitted.
After Application Submittal	It currently takes up to 3 weeks for a completed application to be processed. If any additional information is needed from you, you will be contacted via email.

Barber Instructor

Step	Description	Resource/Additional Information
1	Take and pass the examinations through Virtual Inc. (PCS)	Testing Information
2	Create an account or log into your existing account in the portal.	Apply for an Instructor License
3	On the left side, select 'Applications' and use the drop-down arrow to select 'Barber Instructor Application'
4	The application you selected will pop up. Select 'Continue.'
5	Fill out the required information and upload the required documents. Headshot quality photo that will be displayed on your license (must be against a white background) Certificate of Graduation Government-issued ID or other means to show citizenship Proof of Work form showing at least 2 years experience	You can go back to your application at any point if you need to finish at a later date.
6	Pay the application fee	Online payment methods can be Discover, Mastercard and Visa.
7	It currently takes up to 5 weeks for a completed application to be processed. If any additional information is needed from you, you will receive an email from the licensing portal indicating what we need from you and to upload the additional information. You can check your application status by logging into the licensing portal. Upon being licensed, you will receive an email from the portal with your license.
